This 3-day off-road tour is a true Sahara adventure that connects the dunes of Merzouga with the palm oases of Zagora. The route is designed for travelers who want more desert tracks and remote scenery, not only paved roads. You will drive across a mix of sand dunes, rocky hammada, open plateaus, and hidden oasis villages, with unforgettable sunsets and wide-open landscapes along the way.
The itinerary follows a beautiful off-road line through Taouz and Ouzina, continues via the oasis village of Ramlia, then reaches the remote area of Sidi Ali Tafraout, before finishing in Zagora (also written “Zagoura”) in the Draa region.
Real off-road adventure (not just road driving): You spend most of the trip on desert pistes—sand, hammada (stony desert), and wide open plateaus—far from the main tourist routes.
Iconic Sahara scenery: Start near the dunes of Erg Chebbi and cross changing landscapes all the way to the Draa region.
Remote desert villages & oases: Travel through authentic places like Ouzina and Ramlia where you can stop for tea, photos, and local moments.
A true “expedition” day via Sidi Ali Tafraout: The stretch toward Sidi Ali Tafraout feels wild and empty—perfect for travelers who want silence, space, and adventure.
Flexible tour styles: Choose a private tour in our 4×4, a guided convoy (clients drive their own 4×4), or motorbike guiding (with optional support 4×4 for luggage, water, and fuel).
Your choice of nights: Sleep in a desert camp, wild camp under the stars, or a local guesthouse depending on comfort level and season.
Strong finish in the oasis region: End the journey in Zagora with palm groves and pre-Sahara scenery—an unforgettable contrast to the dunes.
This is a real Sahara off-road journey with a mix of sand, rocky pistes, and wide desert plateaus. Each day includes photo stops and short breaks in remote villages and oases. The route is flexible and may change slightly depending on sand conditions, weather, and the group’s experience level. We always choose the safest and most enjoyable tracks on the day.
Day 1 starts near the dunes of Erg Chebbi before heading south through Taouz and into the first real Sahara pistes. This day is a perfect introduction to off-road driving: sandy tracks, rocky desert (hammada), wide open landscapes, and beautiful sunset views on arrival in Ouzina.
Route: Merzouga → Taouz → desert pistes → Ouzina
Driving time: approx. 4–6 hours (off-road + short road links)
Terrain: dunes, sand, stony pistes (hammada)
Highlights: panoramic dune viewpoints, remote desert scenery, sunset in Ouzina
Overnight: desert auberge/guesthouse or desert camp (dinner + breakfast)
Day 2 is the most “expedition-style” day of the tour, with long stretches of remote pistes and very little traffic. After reaching Ramlia oasis village for a break, you continue deeper into the Sahara toward Sidi Ali Tafraout, crossing plateaus and sandy corridors depending on the conditions.
Route: Ouzina → desert tracks → Ramlia → remote pistes → Sidi Ali Tafraout
Driving time: approx. 5–7 hours
Terrain: remote pistes, rocky plateaus, sandy sections (variable)
Highlights: Ramlia oasis stop, wide-open desert landscapes, deep off-road experience
Overnight: wild camp under the stars or simple local stay (depending on option & availability)
Day 3 continues on scenic pre-Sahara tracks as the landscape slowly changes from open desert to the greener areas near the Draa Valley. You arrive in Zagora in the afternoon, with optional stops for photos and local visits depending on the timing.
Route: Sidi Ali Tafraout → pre-Sahara pistes/roads → Zagora
Driving time: approx. 4–6 hours
Terrain: desert tracks + optional scenic road sections
Highlights: changing landscapes, viewpoints, oasis region arrival
Optional stop: Tamegroute (if time allows)
Finish: drop-off at your accommodation in Zagora
